It’s been more than three years since Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt announced the end of their marriage — but the Maleficent actress still has some bridges to burn. During a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Jolie revealed that she no longer wants to live in the States, but is essentially being forced to by Pitt. (The exes share physical and legal custody of their children, Pax, 15, Zahara, 14, Shiloh, 13, 11-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, and Maddox, who’s 18 and attends college in South Korea.) “I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18,” she said. “Right now, I’m having to base where their father chooses to live.”
The pointed dig didn’t come as a surprise to insiders, who tell Us Jolie is hell-bent on making Pitt pay for his part in destroying their oncehappy family. “Angelina still has a lot of resentment toward Brad,” says one source. “She wants him to be held accountable because she feels he turned her and the children’s lives upside down.”
Pitt, 55, and Jolie, 44, had been together for nearly 12 years (they wed in August 2014) before splitting in September 2016 due to irreconcilable differences. Multiple sources say that while Pitt is desperate to move on, Jolie can’t — because they’re locked in a seemingly never-ending war over not just custody issues but also the sale of their massive French property and wine line, Château Miraval, and decisions about where the family should be based. Now Jolie’s resorting to public attacks, mind games and using the kids as a weapon against her ex, sources say. The dueling duo can barely speak to each other without exploding, so they communicate mainly through lawyers. “They’re past the point of discussing this stuff one-on-one,” says the source, “because it only leads to more bitterness and arguments.”
