She once sang about being beautiful no matter what people say, but Christina Aguilera has revealed she has battled her own body insecurities over the years. The seemingly confident singer admitted in a recent interview that during her rise to stardom in the late ’90s and early 2000s, she constantly felt insecure over her looks.

Aguilera was just 19 when she released her debut album and won a Grammy Award for Best New Artist and she admits being put under a microscope was hard to deal with. “Entering this business, I hated being super skinny,” the 40-year-old, whose weight was once thought to be as low as 39kg, recently told Health magazine. “I have a hard time looking at the early pictures of myself because I remember feeling so insecure.”
