Along with Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista made up the “Trinity” of the most in-demand models of the ’90s, at a time when they didn’t just rule the catwalk but the world. While she joked that she didn’t “get out of bed for less than $10,000 a day”, the quip wasn’t far off the truth. Fashion house Lanvin is rumoured to have paid Evangelista $27,500 for just one day of work when she walked in their haute couture spring/summer show in 1991.

But after gracing the cover of over 700 magazines, appearing in George Michael’s ‘Freedom! ’90’ and ‘Too Funky’ music videos and being the muse for Karl Lagerfeld and Gianni Versace, the Canadian-born beauty, 56, virtually disappeared from the spotlight overnight in 2015. In a heartbreaking post shared on social media on September 23, Evangelista finally revealed the secret health battle she’d been facing behind the scenes following a botched cosmetic procedure that forced her to fade into obscurity.
