The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge put on brave faces as they fronted the public and media on March 11. The royals were getting back to work following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell allegations against the royal family. And as they visited School 21 in London to mark its reopening following the UK’s lockdown, Prince William was forced to vehemently deny accusations of racism.

“We’re very much not a racist family,” the prince, 38, told gathered reporters. Revealing how fractured his relationship has become with his younger brother, William admitted he had not spoken to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since their sit-down tell-all with Oprah Winfrey, 67, aired on March 7. “No, I haven’t spoken to [my brother] yet, but I will do,” he said.

It’s the first time a member from the British royal family has personally addressed claims from the interview, which included accusations of lying, coverups and failing to support Meghan, 39, in accessing mental health treatment while she was pregnant in 2019.

But the most damning claim alleges that an unnamed member of the family wanted to withhold a title and protection from the couple’s 22-month-old son Archie, because they were concerned “how dark his skin” might be.
