DIVORCE FROM HELL
Johnny told the court that 18 months into their relationship, Amber "had become another person."
Some nightmares never end. In May 2016, Amber Heard left Johnny Depp, claiming he'd abused her which he vehemently denied, insisting he was in fact a victim of her aggression. She filed for divorce after 15 months of marriage, and by that August they'd reached a settlement: The Pirates of the Caribbean actor would pay the Aquaman actress $7 million, and she agreed to withdraw her domestic violence case against him. “Our relationship was intensely passionate, and at times volatile, but always bound by love," the pair said in a joint statement at the time, adding that “neither party has lied nor made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm.”
BLOODY BATTLE
DISTURBING WORDS
But now, six years later, Johnny and Amber are both intent on destroying each other. In recent weeks, disturbing details about their toxic marriage - on top of the shocking allegations of alcohol- and drug-fueled arguments and physical assaults they've already hurled – have been revealed in a Fairfax, Va., courtroom, where Johnny, 58, issuing Amber, 36, for $50 million over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post, in which she discussed surviving domestic violence. (She never named him.) She's countersuing him for $100 million, alleging he defamed her by branding her allegations of abuse as a hoax. The claims paint an even darker picture of the exes, who each continue to insist on their disturbing version of what allegedly happened is the truth. One thing is clear: "A war went on in that house at the end of their marriage," a source tells In Touch. "It's even worse than anyone knows."
