THREE-bedroom double-storey mansion, a luxury Mercedes-Benz and social media pages peppered with pictures of local and international performances . . .

Emtee has all the fancy trappings of a star, yet when we arrive at his home in Midrand we’re met by a group of his friends who are chilling in the lounge downstairs while the self confessed introvert takes a nap.

The 25-year-old needs to get all the rest he can, while he still can. In an exclusive interview with DRUM, the fiercely private rapper reveals he and his long-time girlfriend, Nicole Kendall Chinsamy, are expecting their second child.

Avery, their adorable firstborn, is two years old and the couple can’t wait to welcome his brother, who is due on 20 January. Nicole has chosen the name Logan, but Emtee has yet to choose a name for their new son.

“I’m able to celebrate and embrace it,” Emtee says of the anticipated arrival. “I don’t have to worry about where the nappies are going to come from.”

While the rapper, whose real name is Mthembeni Ndevu, is ready to raise his new son, Nicole (22) was surprised to discover she was pregnant last year.

“I was shocked because I’m still studying and the pregnancy wasn’t planned,” says Nicole, who’s currently in her second year of fashion design at Sew Africa.

Emtee, however, can’t be happier, especially as he’s now better able to take care of his growing family. He was quick to start thinking about the best prams for their new arrival.

“I was ready this time,” he says proudly. “It didn’t really matter what everyone else said.”

But life was different three years ago when they discovered they were having Avery. “I didn’t expect to have a baby. I was still young,” says Nicole, who was 19 at the time. Emtee, then 22, was a struggling artist.
