Beauty is no more restricted to the wide range of products available in the market and following a religious skin care routine. It’s gone above and beyond that. The latest being non-invasive treatments aka ‘lunchtime procedures’. These procedures are non-surgical and target specific problem areas to achieve desired results. They are also easier to administer with minimal downtime. If what you read has piqued your interest, listed below are the treatments you should know about.
FAT FREEZING
WHAT IS IT?
Forget about feeling the burn, fat freezing, also known as Cyrotherapy, is revolutionizing treatments that use cold temperatures. “It is a non-surgical process that uses the cryolipolysis technology for freezing fat cells, resulting in permanent fat reduction,” says Dr. Shuba Dharmana, Dermatologist, Lejeune Medspa, Bengaluru. Fat cells are more susceptible to cold and can be destroyed at chilly temperatures. Fat freezing helps trim unwanted bulges on the belly and love handles without any incisions. It is, however, not for people who are looking for weight loss, but for contouring and toning the body.
HOW IS IT DONE?
Pockets of fat are sucked out from the desired area with a vacuum cup applicator along with the cryolipolysis machine. The skin is sucked into the vacuum and is frozen to a temperature where the fat cells are left to die without harming the skin cells. You will experience a tugging pressure and feel intensely cold for five to 10 minutes, but that is it, in terms of the sensations. Each session takes about one to three hours, depending on the area. The body then eliminates the fat through natural urination process. It takes at least three to eight weeks for the body to drain the fat. You may require one to three sessions, depending on the area and the amount of fat to be treated.
