NEW DRAMA
Pistol
Available from Tue 31 May, Star on Disney+
The emergence of punk rock in the 1970s saw a new wave of British bands embrace a deliberately provocative approach to both their image and the music itself- and at the heart of it were the Sex Pistols.
Now, the riotous story of their rise to fame is told in six-part series Pistol - on Star on Disney+ - based on guitarist Steve Jones' memoir Lonely Boy: Tales from a Sex Pistol, and directed by Slumdog Millionaire's Danny Boyle.
At the beginning of the series, cheekily released to coincide with the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, Jones (Toby Wallace) is the lead vocalist in a band called The Swankers, alongside Glen Matlock, Paul Cook and Wally Nightingale.
