Vicky McClure and Martin Compston reveal all about Line of Duty’s thrilling return…
The long wait is over… This week, Line of Duty is back on our screens when Vicky McClure, Martin Compston and Adrian Dunbar return for the fifth series of the acclaimed, twist-filled BBC crime drama.
The six-part run, penned once more by Bodyguard writer Jed Mercurio, begins in typically action-packed style as the notorious Balaclava Gang hijack a police unit which is transporting seized drugs, in a raid that leaves three police officers dead.
It emerges that a corrupt police insider must have been involved and, as the AC-12 team investigates, their enquiries lead them to the heart of the deadly organised crime ring, run by the mysterious John Corbett (Stephen Graham) and Lisa McQueen (Rochenda Sandall).
McClure and Compston, who play stalwart AC-12 detectives Kate Fleming and Steve Arnott, describe this series as the most challenging case to date for the police unit as the team finally tries to uncover the identity of the corrupt police officer – known only as ‘H’ – who, during previous series, has masterminded numerous crimes with the ruthless balaclava-clad thugs.
TV&Satellite Week met up with McClure and Compston and grilled them to find out more…
