Last year, viewers were gripped by true-crime drama Dirty John, which told the story of serial con man John Meehan, who preyed on women and extorted money from them to fund his lifestyle and drug habit.
Now, the anthology series is back with another addictive true-crime tale in Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story.
The series sees Amanda Peet and Christian Slater play Betty and Dan Broderick, beginning with their meeting as students in the 1960s, through marriage and children, to becoming wealthy members of San Diego society as Dan’s legal career takes off and Betty becomes a suburban housewife.
However, the story was to end in tragedy in 1989. Following a bitter divorce and legal battle for the custody of their four children, Betty shot and killed Dan and his second wife Linda while they slept, before turning herself into the police.
