Will the forces of Westeros survive as the Army of the Dead lays siege to Winterfell in the biggest battle ever seen on TV?
Every series of Game of Thrones has trumped the last, with bigger, better and bloodier battles – and this final season is no exception as one of the most expensive and thrilling fight scenes ever made comes to our screens.
Since the fantasy drama first began, the Westeros houses have lived in fear of the terrifying zombie enemy led by the Night King (see panel, below right), which succeeded in breaching the Wall in the gripping finale of the last season.
This week, the Army of the Dead finally descends on Winterfell for a brutal assault as their 100,000strong horde of magical White Walkers and Wights (reanimated human corpses) seek to destroy the vastly outnumbered Westeros forces.
