Wimbledon legend and BBC expert John Mcenroe picks his players to watch.
LIVE TENNIS
Wimbledon 2018
From Monday, BBC1 HD & BBC2 HD
Three-time Wimbledon champion John McEnroe isn’t known for his vulnerable side. After all, screaming, ‘You cannot be serious!’ and throwing tantrums on court tends to endow you with a certain air of confidence.
But when TV&Satellite Week catches up with the tennis legend at Roland Garros in Paris, just a few weeks ahead of Wimbledon, he admits SW19 can make him twitchy.
‘There’s always a knot in my stomach when I get there. I feel that little bit of anxiety,’ he tells us. ‘I always want to perform well there with my commentary. I want to say something that makes sense and not make a fool out of myself.
FRIENDLY
‘I also want people to understand what’s happening on the court with the players, while hopefully being entertaining. Ultimately the tennis should speak for itself.’
