The rise of hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal
There was never much doubt that Jake Gyllenhaal would make a career for himself in Hollywood. Like his close friend Gwyneth Paltrow, Gyllenhaal was born into Tinseltown’s elite – his father, Stephen, is a film director and his mother, Naomi Foner, a screenwriter – and he got the entertainment bug from an early age.
Since making his acting debut at the age of 11 as Billy Crystal’s son in City Slickers, Gyllenhaal has appeared in more than 30 movies, including 2005’s Brokeback Mountain, for which he won a Bafta.
