OBI-WAN KENOBI

NEW FROM FRIDAY 27 MAY, DISNEY+ SCI-FI

More than 20 years after he first stepped into the Star Wars universe in 1999 blockbuster Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Ewan McGregor is delighted to be picking up a lightsaber again to reprise his role as Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi in a new spin-off.

Launching on Disney+ with a double bill, followed by a new episode weekly, six-part series Obi-Wan Kenobi is sandwiched chronologically between the events of the final movie in George Lucas' prequel trilogy, Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005), and the start of the original trilogy (1977-1983), which saw Alec Guinness portray an elderly Obi-Wan.

The action picks up a decade after Revenge of the Sith, in which the legendary Jedi faced his greatest defeat – the corruption of his best friend and apprentice Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen), who turned to the dark side as Sith Lord Darth Vader to help establish the Empire.

Now, with the Empire's ruthless Inquisitors hunting down the surviving Jedi, Obi-Wan is in hiding on the desert planet of Tatooine, where he keeps a watchful eye over the 10-year-old Luke Skywalker (rising star Grant Feely), hoping that one day the youngster will be able to use the Force to defeat his father, Darth Vader.

Here, Ewan, 51, tells us more about returning to a galaxy far, far away...
