She may have had huge success as Torchwood’s Gwen Cooper and starred in hit ITV dramas Broadchurch and Victoria, but Eve Myles was all set to give up acting – until she got the call to play the lead role in new eight-part thriller Keeping Faith.

And thank goodness she changed her mind! Originally shown in Welsh on S4C and in English on BBC Wales, the gripping Welsh-noir thriller became an overnight media sensation and broke iPlayer records with more than 9.5 million downloads.

This week it makes its BBC1 prime-time debut, with Eve starring as Faith Howells, a lawyer and ordinary mum-of-three whose life is turned upside down when her husband, Evan (played by Eve’s real-life husband Bradley Freegard), goes missing out of the blue one Wednesday morning.

Here, Eve, 39, tells TV Times how playing the flawed yet captivating Faith has changed everything for her, and why she’ll never consider giving up acting again…

So what made you think about leaving acting in the first place?
