It’s not even summer yet, but the Call the Midwife cast are already digging out their thermals to film this year’s Christmas special. In contrast to last year’s festive installment, which was set in balmy South Africa, this Christmas will be set once more in chilly Poplar, as the residents of Nonnatus House experience the Big Freeze that hit Britain in the winter of 1962.
