MasterChef judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace on the gruelling challenges the finalists must conquer if they want to be 2017 champion
MasterChef is like the Marathon des sables – it keeps on going!’ smiles judge John Torode, referring to Morocco’s annual ultra-marathon.
‘The contestants [the semifinalists are Steve, Alison, Faye, Saliha, Brodie, Jamie, Giovanna and Lorna] get through gruelling challenges, and then we set them even harder ones,’ says John, 51.
‘Making it to the final five is the holy grail for contestants. They can see the trophy in their sights and nobody wants to go home.’
‘We ramp the pressure up to extraordinary levels,’ adds fellow judge Gregg Wallace, 52, before they both tell TV Times more…
