Life definitely doesn’t get any less surprising as you get older, something that the close-knit group of friends at the heart of ITV’s much-loved comedy-drama Cold Feet know only too well.
The last series saw the quintet rocked when Jenny (Fay Ripley) was diagnosed with breast cancer and Adam (James Nesbitt) fell for Karen (Hermione Norris) – much to the shock of Jenny, her husband Pete (John Thomson) and Karen’s ex-husband David (Robert Bathurst), as well as viewers everywhere!
Ahead of the show’s return for its ninth outing this week, TV Times was invited to visit the cast during filming in Manchester, where James, 55 on 15 January, Hermione, 52, Fay, 53, John, 50, and Robert, 62, chatted about the romances and ructions to come for their characters during the new series...

‘David had financial problems last series – friends jokingly offered me £20! – but now he’s working in the cafe with Mary [Michelle Holmes] and eating cake! We’ll see about romance…
‘But he’s possessive about Karen – her and Adam came as a shock. It’s one thing Karen going off with someone but going off with his friend is doubly horrible. Pete is upset with the rift and thinks a walk with David and Adam will sort it out but things don’t go the way he planned…’
