Morven Christie on The A Word’s finale and how it has changed her life…
DRAMA
THE A WORD
TUESDAY / BBC1 / 9.00PM
By anyone’s reckoning, the last few years have marked a huge professional high for Morven Christie.
She has won critical acclaim as lovelorn single parent Amanda in ITV’s period crime drama Grantchester and as desperate new mum Ellen in BBC1 thriller The Replacement. However, when TV Times catches up with Morven for an exclusive interview, she tells us that it’s her role as The A Word’s Alison Hughes, the devoted mother of autistic Joe (Max Vento), that holds an extraordinary place in her own heart.
Now, as the second run of the Lake District-set series draws to a close with a dramatic finale that finds Alison’s marriage to Paul (Lee Ingleby) under threat, Morven, 36, reveals what’s in store…
What can you tell us about the finale?
It’s pressurised! A lot of it centres around a school concert, there is a big health scare and the future of the family is called into question...
