EastEnders star Lisa Hammond on discovering her grandfather’s war past and missing out on a family fortune
Family secrets are at the heart of many of the storylines in EastEnders, but Lisa Hammond, who plays Donna Yates, uncovers a real-life mystery in her family history in this week’s Who Do You Think You Are?
Lisa, 34, always knew there was intrigue surrounding the World War Two experiences of her paternal grandfather Harry Hammond, but in the programme, she learns how he fought in the Allies’ Italian Campaign, but was captured in 1943 and spent 18 months in several prisoner of war camps in Germany.
