NEW DOCUMENTARY

The Queen’s Green Planet

MONDAY / ITV / 9PM

Every year, the Royal Family opens up the grounds of Buckingham Palace for garden parties, to which thousands of community figures are invited.

But last summer, one lucky individual enjoyed a private tour of the grounds in the company of none other than Her Majesty the Queen!

The guest was acclaimed naturalist and broadcaster Sir David Attenborough and ITV cameras were there to capture the encounter for a new documentary, The Queen’s Green Planet.

The one-off celebrates a remarkable new initiative called The Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy, committed to preserving natural habitats in Commonwealth countries for future generations.

Among the advocates for the project are Hollywood star Angelina Jolie, foreign secretary Boris Johnson and the Queen’s grandsons Princes William and Harry, all of whom appear in the programme.

Sir David Attenborough offered TV Times a sneak preview of what happened when he and the Queen – born a month apart in 1926 – took a turn around the garden to talk conservation…
