Back in June, This Morning presenter Alison Hammond made an emotional and powerful Black Lives Matter speech on the daytime show in response to the death of George Floyd in police custody in the US.

Now, inspired by the BLM movement and to mark Black History Month this October, the always-upbeat star has made a brand-new documentary for ITV, Alison Hammond: Back to School.

The one-off sees Alison travel around the UK to visit key historical sites – from Hadrian’s Wall to Hampton Court Palace – to celebrate some of Britain’s unsung black heroes.

Here, Alison, 45, tells us more…

How would you describe the programme?

I am travelling ‘black in time’ to remember some of the forgotten black heroes who most of us haven’t been taught about in school. The stories will absolutely blow you away!
