Lorraine Kelly is on her summer break but her queendom is in the safest of hands because Andi Peters is holding the fort on her always-popular morning magazine show, Lorraine.
Andi – who’s spent lockdown cheering up the nation with competition giveaways broadcast from his garage – is at the helm until Friday 21 August.
Here, he chats to TV Times about filling in for Lorraine, the perils of live TV, and how he feels about being 50…
How pleased are you to be at the helm on Lorraine?
I’m chuffed! I love Lorraine – I’ve known her for 10 years and am on her show every day, so sitting in for her is an honour! Lorraine’s a television institution.
What are you enjoying most?
Chatting to people and having a whole hour to actually relax into it. I like having a chinwag and also being able to do serious stuff and have an opinion. Asking me to take the helm is a great statement from ITV about getting more black faces on TV in lead roles as opposed to support roles, which is really important.
Lockdown meant you had to present from your garage instead of exotic clime – how was that?
