Hopes will be high when Team GB’s skiers, skaters and snowboarders take to the snow and ice at the Winter Olympics in South Korea – and it all begins this week with the first events and Friday’s spectacular opening ceremony.

The team is targeting a record haul of at least five medals, which would surpass the best-ever return of four at the 1924 and 2014 Games.

Among the BBC’s commentary team is former figure skater Robin Cousins, who famously won gold at Lake Placid, USA, in 1980.

TV Times caught up with Robin, 60, to find out more about Great Britain’s medal hopes and his own memories of Olympic glory…

What do you find so exciting about the winter Olympics?

The thrills and spills are part of the attraction. There is huge jeopardy and risk with athletes literally on the edge. The recently introduced Winter X Games-style extreme sport events are so exciting to watch.
