Until Proven Guilty...

NEW CRIME DRAMA

Innocent

MON-THU / ITV / 9PM

TV Times is in the beautiful coastal town of Malahide in County Dublin on the set of ITV’s new drama Innocent. But the idyllic location, which is standing in for the South of England, is in stark contrast to the dark tone of the taut thriller. The four-parter, written by Unforgotten creator Chris Lang, centres on David Collins (Lee Ingleby), who, after serving seven years in prison for murdering his wife Tara, is acquitted on a technicality at a re-trial. He then bitterly vows to expose those who brought about his conviction and regain custody of his two children.

However, Tara’s sister Alice (Hermione Norris), who has been raising David’s children Jack (Fionn O’Shea) and Rosie (Eloise Webb), is horrified by his release. As the case is re-opened, will the true killer be identified?

Here, as they sit down for a break in filming, Lee, 42, and Hermione, 51, tell us more...

What’s your take on the characters you play?

Lee: David suddenly gets released over insufficient evidence and wrenched back into society. He tries to establish a connection with his kids and he has anger towards the press and the police. Now that he’s out, he wants to shout and question things. It’s a simmering pot!
