New hosts Tom Allen and Liam Charles on the C4 makeover of Bake Off’s posh sister show
NEW COOKERY
Bake Off: The Professionals
SUNDAY / C4 / 8PM
Beyond the world of Hollywood handshakes and Prue’s playful wrist slapping, The Great British Bake Off’s spin-off show pushes pastry chefs to their limits.
Formerly known as Bake Off: Crème de la Crème, the nerve-jangling contest challenges teams of two chefs from lofty places such as The Savoy Hotel and the WI Cookery School to present spectacular bakes for scrutiny.
And boy, do we mean scrutiny. If that six-storey croquembouche, which took 10 hours to make isn’t absolutely immaculate, don’t expect judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden to hold back!
But all is calm when TV Times arrives on the stunning set where the third series is being filmed, a glorious country estate in Lewes. Although we hear that today’s judging session has been particularly tough – and we’re terrified of breaking anything in the pristine kitchen! There’s even a sign telling us to keep the door closed in case a gust of wind ruins the bakes, ending with, ‘Thanks for Respecting the Sugar’.
