On 10 August 2011, 19-year-old Haroon Jahan and his two friends were mown down by a car while protecting properties in their community from rioters.
The violence had been triggered by the death of Mark Duggan, who’d been shot by police in Tottenham, north London.
Within days, a peaceful protest had turned into a full-blown riot that had spread across London and to other cities, including Haroon’s home city of Birmingham.
