Did This Hospital Poster Girl Kill 17 Babies?

This children’s nurse fronted a fundraiser for her hospital, but now she’s suspected of being a monster who killed the babies she was ‘helping’

She was entrusted with the care of vulnerable premmie babies, but now British nurse Lucy Letby has been arrested on suspicion of murdering eight newborns – and police believe the 28-year-old could also be responsible for the deaths of another nine babies.

Her arrest came after police were called in to investigate an inexplicable spike in neonatal fatalities during 2015 and 2016 at the Countess of Chester Hospital in the UK, in a case that shocked the world and devastated parents whose children were at the unit at the time of the deaths.

“This is really scary,” said mum Melissa Campion on social media. “To think in this time period not only was my son born, so was my baby cousin and my sister’s daughter – all in this hospital. I hope whoever is responsible rots in hell.”

Medics at the hospital initially launched an inquiry in 2016 when premmie babies collapsed with heart and lung failure and were unable to be resuscitated.

A report later noted strange blotches on the babies’ arms and legs after death. When experts couldn’t find a cause of death, the Cheshire police were called in to investigate in May 2017.
