Donald Trump Jnr has come in for a hammering from the world’s media after a controversial meeting with Russians.
THINK Trump offspring and Ivanka will probably come to mind, the lithe blonde beauty who’s been described as the brains behind the love-or-loathe him president of the United States.
But recently another Trump kid has been making headlines – and as is so often the case with this clan, it’s for all the wrong reasons. Donald Trump Jnr, the 39-year-old reality TV star turned politician, was the talk of Twitter and TV news after a series of damning emails exposed him evidently supporting a plot to dig up dirt on Hillary Clinton when she was running against his dad for the White House.
So devoted was Don Jnr to his father’s cause he seemingly cosied up to America’s most notorious for enemy: Russia.
Trump’s eldest son is now in the spotlight as much as his sister.
‘DONNY GATE’: FROM RUSSIA, WITH LOVE
Don Jnr was forced to respond to the controversy after the New York Times broke the story of how the first citizen’s son tried to derail Clinton’s presidential campaign with a little help from afar.
The “stunning disclosure”, as The Guardian newspaper calls it, involves electronic communication between show music promoter Rob Gold stone and Don Jnr. Gold stone told him “the crown prosecutor of Russia” had offered “to provide the Trump campaign with some official documents and information that would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father”.
In the exchange, which happened on 3 June 2016, Gold stone adds, “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr Trump.”
Less than 20 minutes later, Don sent his enthusiastic reply: “If it’s what you say, I love it, especially later in the summer.”
