James and Jack Reid have taken show business by storm as individual artists. Now, watch them do it together for the very first time.
For siblings, it’s probably the greatest sign of trust to hand your kuya or ate a pair of scissors and entrust your hair to them. Google “funny childhood stories” and you’ll find a ton of horror stories involving siblings butchering each other’s hair. Maybe it’s a situation we all have to go through at one point or another. And on the afternoon of our shoot for this month’s issue, we catch 23-year-old James Reid holding a hair clipper in one hand, ready to give his younger brother, 18-year-old Jack Reid, a brand new hairstyle.
We are equal parts nervous and amazed. It was such a surreal sight because it’s not every day that we get to witness James Reid playing the role of hairstylist instead of sitting in the makeup chair himself. Surprisingly, Jack is calm. Or maybe he’s just keeping all the nervous energy to himself so as not to make things worse. He comes out minutes later looking perfect, though he and his older brother reveal later during the interview that James messed it up, so he had to spray a small part of his scalp black.
As the two work on the shoot together, we see how James and Jack transform from brothers to mentor and mentee. James gamely gives Jack tips on how to pose and position himself in front of the camera. Jack listens to him, nods, and follows his advice. This isn’t the Reid brothers trying to be cheesy or sweet toward each other. It’s actually how they really are, and it’s heartwarming to see brothers not competing with each other or playfully strangling each other for a change.
