It's likely that you have noticed a Rolex watch on the wrist of a main character while watching a film. Sometimes it shows up when you least expect it. One famous gaffe can be witnessed in the movie Spartacus because lead actor Tony Curtis forgot to remove his Rolex watch while filming a scene, so the Swiss timepiece makes an anachronistic appearance in ancient Rome. On a recent rewatching of the movie Clueless (famous for capturing the zeitgeist of '90s style), I was surprised to see the character of Elton, a teenager, sporting a Rolex wristwatch at school, proving the lasting influence of the classic timepiece despite the changing trends. Other times, the watch is there not just as a status symbol, but because it is an integral part of the character. When Paul Newman's character wears his Oyster Perpetual Date just in the movie The Colour of Money - lent qualities of style and substance to the character he played.
