First-term U.S. representative Lauren Underwood (D-IL) and veteran U.S. representative Alma Adams (D-NC) have teamed up to launch the Black Maternal Health Caucus. The initiative was formed in partnership with Black Mamas Matter Alliance, a women-led organization with a mission to improve health outcomes for mothers of color. The caucus will work toward this goal while also forming relevant policies to raise awareness about disparities and the risks this specific population faces. As one of the Black women of reproductive age in Congress, Underwood says she is “really happy to be a leading voice on this important issue.”

Beauty is a multibillion-dollar industry, and Trinity Mouzon Wofford is taking a piece of that pie. This spring the wellness entrepreneur, known for her turmeric-infused makeup blends, officially debuted her product line in the popular personal care chain Sephora. The noteworthy accomplishment made the 26-year-old the youngest Black woman to launch a brand with the retailer.
