Ugandan-canadian actress Whitney Peak has been announced as the new face of CHANEL'S COCO MADEMOISELLE fragrance. Stepping into the shoes of actress Keira Knightley, who's been the face of the fragrance for 16 years, this is a big moment for Whitney and a new dawn for Mademoiselle.
Whitney's best known for playing one of the leads in the Gossip Girl reboot and for playing the lead in Hocus Pocus 2 by Anne Fletcher. The relationship between CHANEL and Whitney has been long in the making. It began with Whitney being a brand ambassador for the US market, then a muse of CHANEL's 22 Handbag campaign, and now she's the face of COCO MADEMOISELLE.
Whitney's the embodiment of today's youth whose curiosity, confidence in life, appetite for experiences and lack of preconceptions echo the temperament of the young COCO CHANEL.
Conducting the interview virtually, her beautiful face framed by bouncy black curls comes to life on my computer screen, and she breaks out into a gorgeous smile that immediately puts me at ease, and our chat begins.
Congratulations on being the new face of COCO MADEMOISELLE. This is a big deal and a huge moment for you. Entering a new dawn of COCO MADEMOISELLE after Keira Knightley, what does this role mean to you?
It's hard to put how I feel into words! It's fantastic, so huge that I can't really wrap my head around it. I feel grateful and extremely lucky to be here and to be in this position. It's a huge deal, and I'm nervous, excited and anxious all at the same time. CHANEL is a loved brand, and COCO MADEMOISELLE is a beautiful perfume. To be chosen as its new face... I feel very proud and empowered!
