No matter what you’ve read in the fashion magazines, there is no cookie-cutter approach to style. The fun thing about fashion is that literally anything goes — if it makes you look and feel good too. The first step to finding the right clothes to bring out your inner goddess, or rock star or CEO is to figure out your specific body type so that you can play up your best features.
Every woman has something about her body that she would like to hide. It could be that she has heavy thighs, a pudgy tummy or a too-round bottom. With just a few tricks mentioned for the women who face this problem, all those negative thoughts will disappear and the true beauty inside will shine through!
Body basics
Wear colours that look great on you. If you are not sure what those are, then hold up different colours next to your face and get a feedback from the salesperson. Hues that compliment most complexions are pink, blue and white. You’ll just need to change the intensity of these colours to suit your skin, which is hot pink for darker skins, carnation for fairer, ivory for olive tones, etc. Nobody looks good in high-waisted, pleated pants with narrow ankle openings, but manufacturers still turn these out in droves. Avoid them! Don’t worry about being trendy when you look at what suits your figure: concentrate on what flatters, and add up-to-date shoes, handbags and accessories later.
Body shape
Body shape is all about proportion, and fashion is all about dressing those proportions to look their very best. When you think about body types, don’t focus on height and weight... focus on shape. A slender gal can have the same body shape as a curvy gal, just as a short woman can have the same body shape as her taller friend. And it’s not about trying to look thin; it’s about accentuating your shape and enhancing what you have so you feel your best in every outfit you own.
