An exclusive with Paul Andrew, the man steering a new design direction for women’s footwear at Salvatore Ferragamo
Think of this collaboration as a step in the right direction. Englishman Paul Andrew, touted as the shoe wizard of this generation, has already in stilled a prodigious energy into his new role as women’s footwear design director at the storied luxury powerhouse Salvatore Ferragamo. Mixing technology with extraordinary craftsmanship, the young designer talks to Bazaar about combining “a fresh design perspective with classic Ferragamo”.
What is it like to be associated with Salvatore Ferragamo? Ferragamo has been an iconic reference for shoe design and craftsmanship for nearly a century. It is a great honour and huge responsibility to be invited to lead the creative vision for the future of its women’s shoe division.
How have you merged the essence of Salvatore Ferragamo with your aesthetics? I’m taking it step by step. Bringing in new ideas for product, presentation, the assortment, the marketing, the store experience, and hopefully shining new light on the inherent brilliance of the brand.
