Your collections have a different theme each season, yet the Dolce & Gabbana look remains. How do you choose your themes, and make each collection different?
DD: Dolce & Gabbana’s style has always hinged on contrasts. Femininity versus masculinity, sensuality versus austerity, precious fabrics as opposed to plain ones. It’s a combination of a lot of different things – first of all, Italian tradition coupled with our creativity and ideas. When we look for inspiration, we tap on people’s daily lives, travels, books, Italy, food and love. In this way, all our collections are always new and different.
How has the internet affected your creative process now as compared to when you first started the brand?
