Gone are the days when fashion catered more to women than to men. Now even men receive equal treatment at the hands of designers. Giving an ode to fashion and celebrating the 21 years of L'Officiel, we will be looking at the past iconic collections from prestigious luxury brands. We will be alternating between menswear and womenswear to ensure nobody feels left out. Without any more delay, let's step into the fashion world and reminisce some of the most memorable fashion collections.

A HODGE-PODGE OF THEMES FT. CHANEL

Chanel's Fall 2016 collection saw Chanel at its most captivating, yet also nodding to the trends of that year. Chanel put a white carpet and little gold chairs as the setting - the way collections were shown before the catwalk took birth.

Talking about the collection, it seemed like a melting pot of different themes and styles - that Lagerfeld denied to provide an explanation for. A vaguely equestrian theme changed to leather-brimmed boaters and riding boots, which later turned into khaki macintoshes. Tweed suits intercut with denim made an appearance later after which came a heavily pink collection of suits.

CULTURALLY OBSESSED FT. SAINT LAURENT

There is no question of Heidi Slimane being foremost curator of pop arcana in the fashion world. For the 2014 Saint Laurent Spring collection, he presented a collection that made starkly visible, his cultural obsessions.

The clothes were splendidly styled and filled the catwalk with a plethora of references that very easily can be called a personality crisis. His models seemed like line drawings - truncated torsos, highly-hitched trousers and more - gave an impression that they were band members. We definitely are still in awe of this collection.
