Inspired by Joan of Arc, the unconquerable warrior, Fashion Institute of the Philippines’ Designer of the Year 2018 awardee Kristine Ordinario takes us to battle with her debut collection.
How does one build an armor out of scratch? In the early 1200s, armors were first laid out in leather and cloth, then slowly cast to iron and would be case-hardened with charcoal to form it into steel. It was designed to cover the entire body to be as indestructible as possible, protecting it against any weapon so that no puncture or crushing damage could ever be done. Much like a warrior’s armor, Kristine Ordinario fearlessly took on the challenge of creating a collection that would withstand imperilment all while empowering the female frame.
