Tell us something about your background. How was your childhood, your growing years and your education?
I was born in India but grew up in UK after we moved when I was around 10 years old, after the death of my father and 1984 riots. My childhood may have been full of tragedies and my growing years might have been very emotional where I had to go through racism, Sexism and bullying but my mother always made everything better for me. After school I studied Fine Art & Design and the Fashion design at UCE. I mostly worked as a beauty therapist at my mom’s store and use to be a make-up artist doing bridal make- up & hair across the UK.
How did movies and music happen? Do elaborate.
There was no plan of acting. I was doing music for the movie Patiala House, when Akshay Paaji asked me to act as his sister in the film. I laughed at first because I don’t consider myself an actor. I read the script and really liked it and then met up with Nikhil Advani to work through my character as “Komal”. I am doing a cameo in an upcoming movie Ticket to Bollywood where I will feature as a Vamp and also giving a song for the same.
Was your family supportive of a career in films and music?
My mum has always supported me be it music or films. I think parents always like their kids to be happy but it’s the society that ruins things and happiness of families. I’m now working hard as a Music director and have had a few releases, the last one being Ashiq Mizaj from the film “The Shaukeens”. So my mum is always supporting no matter what i do.
