ED Can Be Cured!

A doctor recalls an obese male patient of his who was prescribed a medication for erectile dysfunction (ED). A year later, the man returned to his office, 23 kgs lighter and free of high blood pressure and diabetes. And through his improved health and lifestyle, he had regained his sexual function without the need for the ED drug.

New research supports this anecdotal evidence. A study published in the issue of the ‘Journal of Sexual Medicine’ suggests that many men can avoid and possibly reverse the effects of ED by focusing on lifestyle changes and addressing medical problems that affect sexual function, without the need for medical treatment.

Obesity, lack of physical activity, a poor diet – these are factors that lead to men not being healthy as they age and suffering from many problems, and ED is just one of them. Certainly, there is evidence that men have reversed ED with nothing more than lifestyle changes. Men who make that effort can certainly benefit in many ways, and one of them is their ability to perform sexually.

Contributing Factors

In the study, the researchers examined factors that predicted the onset and remission of ED. While some factors that contributed to the onset of ED, such as advancing age, were unavoidable, most were treatable and reversible: Abdominal obesity, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), depression, diabetes, and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).
