Here are some ideas to help make going to school a cherished experience for both you and your kid.
#1 DON’T MAKE TOO BIG A FUSS
You may be excited about your kid going to school, but he may be anxious and afraid, and your excitement may only increase his anxiety. Therefore, treat your kid going to school as a new but normal part of his routine. You may be tempted to take photos of him in his uniform on the first day, or even record the whole thing to be put up on Facebook, but if your child is already anxious, it may be better to just treat that day as any other day.
#2 LET YOUR KID KNOW WHAT SCHOOL IS REALLY LIKE
The more your child understands what school is like, the less anxious he may feel, and the more he may end up looking forward to the big day. Therefore, let your child know that school is a place to make new friends and learn new things. Instead of emphasizing school as a new and alien experience, compare it to, say, visiting a relative’s house for the first time. New places and new faces may seem intimidating at first, but over time, your child will get used to them.
