SINCE 2000, CHARLES 

Trento has been on what he calls “a great ride” as a New York City police officer. After serving as a patrolman for years, Trento, a lieutenant, now works behind a desk at NYPD headquarters in Lower Manhattan as the commanding officer of CATS, a section within the Information Technology Bureau. There, he’s responsible for supplying various precincts with the technological tools needed to fight crime in the digital age. But before he was reassigned to CATS, Trento was a patrolman who stayed in top-notch shape with intense workouts, which remain part of his daily routine. “I go to the gym five days a week,” he says. “I go hard. My thought is to domaximum output when I’m in that gym. No BSing, no coffee club, I’m in there to bust ass.”
