How to Be Healthier By Tomorrow

Believe it or not, it is possible to improve your over all well-being, including increased vigor, a better mood, greater confidence, younger-looking skin and even a longer life—all by tomorrow. Don’t waste a minute before implementing these research- and expert-backed nuggets of wisdom.

GET CRACKIN’ TO BOOST BRAIN POWER.

The more eggs people ate, the better their performance on tests of cognitive functioning, according to a new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. For every additional half an egg subjects ate per day, they performed 1.9 seconds faster on a brain test of executive functioning, and scored 1.2 words better on a test of verbal fluency. Watching your cholesterol? Studies show that dietary cholesterol doesn’t raise levels of blood cholesterol in most people, even when eggs are eaten most days of the week.

MAKE IT A MOCHA.

One big upside to drinking coffee is that it improves mental performance. The downside? It can make you jittery. Now, new research finds that cocoa with caffeine may be the perfect brew. “The cocoa both increases blood flow to the brain, which boosts cognition and attention, and lessens caffeine’s anxiety-producing effects,” explains Clarkson University researcher Ali Boolani, PhD. Yep, science just gave you a good reason to order a mocha latte!

HEAD OUTDOORS.

People who were exposed to nature for as little as 20 minutes a day had more energy and a better overall mood than those who were stuck inside, according to a series of studies published in 2010 in the Journal of Environmental Psychology.
