AFTER SPENDING over 30 years of training and teaching Wing Chun, Sifu Morten Ibsen’s passion has not waned—quite the opposite! Over the years, I’ve had the honor to see and feel first-hand the astonishing transformation he has undergone.

Sifu Morten started his training in Leung Ting Wing Tsun when he was 15-years-old, in 1985 in his hometown of Odense, Denmark. He was among the highest-ranking Wing Tsun instructors in Sifu Keith R. Kernspecht’s European Wing Tsun Organisation when, in 2005, his WT-path was steered in a new, unexpected direction.

At a seminar in the UK, he met Sifu David Peterson— a meeting, which would lead to him questioning his entire perception of Wing Chun to such a degree he decided to “empty his cup” and learn WSLVT under Sifu Peterson’s guidance.

How and when did your Wing Chun journey start?

I started my training in Leung Ting Wing Tsun (WT) when I was 15-years-old. My first Sifu was you—the publisher and editor-in-chief of this excellent magazine. I was initially inspired by Bruce Lee, like so many teenagers before me. Bruce Lee acted as the catalyst that sparked my passion, some might call it an obsession, for Wing Chun that has defined me as a person ever since.
