Rory and Katrina MacPherson rebuilt their house with a striking steel frame and glass walls that bring the outside in

Having lived and worked in central London for years, Rory MacPherson loved the idea of being surrounded by nature. ‘That was key when looking for our next home,’ explains Rory, founder and creative director of Play Associates. ‘My wife and I were both born and initially raised in London, but ended up living in southern Spain, which is where we met. We have great memories of the heat, being close to nature and by the sea,’ he adds.

It was these memories and desire to recreate an idyllic childhood for their growing family, that led Rory and Katrina to Cape Town and the Constantia area in particular, thanks to its beautiful views of Table Mountain. Rory explains: ‘Now we have a baby, we felt we had to get that lifestyle back, so this location is perfect for us. We’re close to downtown Cape Town and the sea.’
