The owners of this family home in Carlow have created an outstanding bespoke scheme, combining Belgian design influences with traditional cabinetmaking techniques.
Having lived with their existing kitchen for a number of years, the owners felt it was time to do their home justice with a unique and bespoke new scheme as a show-stopping centrepiece for everyday living and entertaining. With no need for any major upheaval as the layout worked perfectly, the changes required were aesthetic.
‘I wanted much more than simply a functional kitchen. My priority was for a beautiful high-quality product with the vision for a timeless yet contemporary design.’ Of all the kitchen companies the couple visited, they were most impressed with Woodale, where they dealt with designer, Keith Fennelly. ‘We were really impressed with Woodale. From our initial meeting we totally trusted Keith. We loved his ideas, and some of the projects he showed us from the Woodale portfolio were just stunning, in particular the Provençal Collection. Other than specifying a classic painted look, we were more than happy for Keith to take over.’
Mixing the door fronts on the kitchen help to create a contemporary feel to this timeless classic kitchen design. The doors are premium quality, using 30mm thick poplar wood with a shaker door style selected for the sink run and island with a contrasting Georgian mould design on the cooker run and the free standing units. ‘It’s the extra details that really make the difference, such as the internals, in solid oak and the handles, in an aged, antique finish. They tie the scheme together beautifully, and the fact we went with single colour for the kitchen and island created a crisp, fresh look.’
