Readers showcase their floral décor to best effect.
Welcome!
The wall directly opposite the front entrance to Maryke Roberts’s Strand home was once plain white with a simple mirror, statue and orchid forming a focal point. “It had been that way for years but I longed for a bold change – something that would create a vibrant energy as you enter our house,” she says.
Maryke opted for this dramatic floral wallpaper from Beyond Innovation Printing Shop. Since her home has lots of open-plan rooms with little wall space, this simple – and affordable – change packs a real punch! The focal feature is striking against the stark white arch in the foreground, it frames the guest bathroom beautifully and it can be enjoyed from the front of the house (even as far as the street!).
As in nature…
Elna van der Merwe has always loved and collected botanical prints. When she converted a bedroom in her Parow home into a study, she decided to dedicate a wall to her ever-growing collection. “I painted the wall a rich green (Dulux Woodland Fern 2) as a natural backdrop for the plants,” she says.
Elna opted for all dark charcoal frames to create a unified look, which ensures that each of the delicate floral prints really pops! >>
