It’s that time of year again when overpriced roses, teddy bears and enough chocolate to bring on near instant diabetes make an appearance. As a rule, most guys aren’t into the whole Valentine’s Day thing — it feels like a marketing exercise disguised as a heart-laced guilt trip designed to liberate cash from our wallets on commodities that are as limited as they are clichéd. And technically, it kinda is.

Granted, this is a highly cynical view to take — kinda like when anyone with the last name Kardashian says they wrote a book. But you know what? Because we love — nay, adore — the women in our lives, we do it. We buy those mushy cards and send the roses that cost ten times on this day than they did a day before or a day after. And to hell with dignity — we even willingly carry stuffed animals on public transport. We cast reservations aside because we want you to feel like the girl in the fairytale, even if the story doesn’t do it for us.
