James Forrest is revelling in his advancement under Brendan Rodgers

JAMES Forrest struggled to find the words to describe his emotions after starring in Sunday’s Glasgow derby demolition that sealed seven-in-a-row – but his beaming smile said it all. For the Celtic Youth Academy graduate, it had been a dream day in Paradise.

Although the 26-year-old has enjoyed many magical moments in a success-filled career at the club, breaking his duck against Rangers with a sensational solo goal in a 5-0 rout to clinch the title was something very special.

The Hoops had already raced into a two-goal lead thanks to Odsonne Edouard’s double when Forrest picked up the ball on the right touchline on the stroke of half-time. Faced with three defenders, he left them all for dead with some nimble footwork before rifling a shot into the far corner of the net. Cue bedlam and euphoric celebrations, which included Mikael Lustig borrowing a police officer’s hat!

Brendan Rodgers’ men added two more goals after the break, through Callum McGregor and Tom Rogic, and only some superb shot-stopping from goalkeeper Jak Alnwick prevented them inflicting further punishment on the beleaguered Ibrox club.

But when the final whistle sounded, the champions were happy to settle for five as they celebrated securing a magnificent seven titles in a row – the first time Celtic had achieved this fantastic feat since the golden era of Jock Stein and the Lisbon Lions.

After defeat away to Hibernian the previous weekend, the Bhoys had had crossed the finishing line in style, and a euphoric Forrest told the View it was a day he would never forget.
