Shaun Maloney is back at Celtic for a third spell with the club, this time as a development coach, and it’s a role he’s looking forward to

SHAUN Maloney’s talents and work ethic saw him provide Celtic fans with a wealth of great memories, including some sublime goals, throughout the two spells he enjoyed with the Hoops as a player. Now the former Celt has returned to the club where it all started for him as he embarks on a new phase in his football career, working as a development coach with the Under-20s.

The 34-year-old is looking forward to working within the Academy set-up at Celtic, and under the guidance of a manager who has always had a commitment to bringing young players through and helping them develop.

In an exclusive interview with the Celtic View, Maloney spoke about his new role and how impressed he’s been by Brendan Rodgers.

“I remember watching his first interview as Celtic manager,” said Maloney. “He talked about the style of football and winning trophies, but the thing that really stood out to me was when he mentioned how he wanted to bring through players and give them a chance.
